Registration Procedure

Applications from eligible students for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program will be invited once in an academic year. For Resident Nepalese students this will be after the Kathmandu University Medical Entrance Test (KUMET) which will be held in July, 2007. The resident and non-resident Nepalese including international students must send applications to Nepal Medical College by September 17, 2007 (Bhadra 31, 2064). All the students must apply to the Principal for admission. Applications sent in the names of other persons, than the Principal of NMC, will not be considered for admission. All students shall be informed of the date of interview by the Examination section.

METHOD OF SELECTION OF STUDENT AT NMC
The students nominated by His Majesty’s Government of Nepal will be enrolled into the program without having to take the college interview.

The Resident Nepalese students to be enrolled on full fee payment self financing scheme must pass the KUMET 2007 examination of Kathmandu University before registering the application in the college. The candidates along with their parents will be called for interviews to be held by Nepal Medical College at the venue specified by the college. The final list of selected students for enrollment will be published by NMC. Opportunities will be given to both the genders for enrollment on merit basis. Equity and equality for both the genders will be honoured during the student selection process.

The Non-Resident Nepalese including international students shall be selected by interview on the merit basis only.

Note
Should vacancy (ies) occur in the Non-Resident Nepalese category including international students, such vacancy (ies) will be filled in from Resident Nepalese students in order of merit whose names are published in the waiting list. Such students will be admitted and are required to make fee payment applicable for the Resident Nepalese students. Likewise, should vacancies occur in Resident Nepalese category, students from Non-Resident Nepalese including international categories whose names are published in order of merit in the waiting list will be given priority and will be admitted in order of merit from the waiting list. Such candidates (either Non- Resident Nepalese, International students) are required to pay the fee as applicable to such a student depending on the country of his/her residence as mentioned below. No candidate will be admitted without appearing in the college interview.

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE
Names of students selected by the NMC Student Selection Committee headed by the Executive Chairman of NMC will be forwarded to the Fiscal section of NMC where the student must make all categories of fee payment for the first enrollment related to the MBBS programme on the dates specified by NMC. Failure to enroll in the MBBS program by the principal candidates within time specified will automatically permit the enrollment of alternate candidates in order of merit from the waiting list. There is no system of late fee payment for enrollment of principal candidates and also for candidates from the waiting list.
