appoints Dr.

at Nepal Medical College and
Nepal Medical College Teaching
Hospital (here in after called
NMC & NMCTH) under this
Contractual Service Agreement,
adhering to the terms and
conditions stated under clause
1-9 as mentioned below.
1. This Contractual Service
Agreement will be valid with
effect from …………………….
( B.S.) will
last until …………………….(
B.S.). This agreement
will expire automatically
without any notification,
unless revived and extended
further by signing another
contract on or before the
date of expiry as mentioned
above.
2. It is compulsory for the
expatriate Faculty to register
own name (together with that
of other accompanying persons,
if applicable) at the embassy
of the Country of own residence
in Kathmandu and submit the
photocopy of the paper of
registration to the college
administration. Expatriate
Medical doctors in faculty
positions must also be registered
with Nepal Medical Council
temporarily without which
they can not be appointed
at Nepal Medical College,
and charges will be paid by
the college.
3. The Faculty is governed
by the Nepal Medical College
Employee Service Regulation
2054 and its amendments and
the detailed job description
and responsibilities of the
Faculty will be as per the
job descriptions listed in
Nepal Medical College Employee
Service Regulation 2054 and
its amendments. The faculty
will be a Full Time Faculty
and should be able to:
3.1 facilitate learning of
NMC undergraduate (MBBS) medical
students, postgraduate students
and students of other Health
Sciences programmes run by
NMC alone
or run jointly in collaboration
with other institutions or
run separately by other institutions
with which NMC has agreement
of institutional linkage program.
Lectures, small group discussions,
correlation seminars, problems
based learning, tutorials,
practicals, clinical bed side
teaching and community based
teaching and supervision of
students will form modalities
of Teaching Learning activities.
3.2 undertake scientific research
and publish minimum of one
research/ original paper as
the main author in an academic
year in an International Journal
or in a National Medical Journal
including Nepal Medical College
Journal.
3.3 provide support to the
Health Care Services or Health
related services at NMCTH
and its Community Satellite
Health Centres at Jhaukhel
or at other hospitals with
which NMC has developed bilateral
cooperation or in health camps
organised by NMC & NMCTH.
3.4 supervise students during
practical classes and or during
acquisition of clinical Experiences
by students at NMCTH and at
Community Satellite Health
Centres or other hospitals.
3.5 look after student welfare
by becoming FOSTER –PARENT
and shall maintain personal
record of such students.
3.6 develop Teaching /Learning
resources for facilitating
student learning.
3.7 help to develop own department
full fledged and make it function
its different activities including
starting of postgraduate degree
programmes in ones own discipline.
3.8 take part in Continuing
Medical Education (CME) Programmes
and be involved in taking
part from time to time.
3.9 The Faculty
will provide support for the
faculty development of own
Department.
3.10 prepare and improve tools
for student assessment.
3.11 take regular assessment
of students and give feed
back to them and also provide
a copy of same to the Academic/
Examination Section for maintaining
personal file of each student.
3.12 undertake review of MBBS
curriculum on his/ her own
and may forward recommendations,
if any, to the Principal,
for forwarding the matter
to the Kathmandu University.
3.13 evaluate the activities
of own department during each
semester and give feed back
to the Head of the department
and also help to implement
changes recommended in the
department.
3.14 endeavour to earn a good
name and repute to the Nepal
Medical College and Nepal
Medical College Teaching Hospital,
abide by the rules , regulations
and norms and standard of
the college and refrain from
acts and activities that would
likely to result in tarnishing
the name and image of NMC
and NMCTH.
4. Salary:
4.1 NMC will provide to faculty
for the post of ……………………Gross

which, income tax as per the
income tax regulation of Nepal
Government of Nepal will be
deducted before making payment
of the net salary to the faculty.
4.2 Faculty belonging to Indian
Nationality are required to
submit the letter of last
appointment in faculty position
in India.
4.3 The payment of monthly
salary will be made payable
in the bank account of the
Faculty each
month according to the Nepalese
Calendar.
4.4 Those Faculty who complete
six months of duration after
joining and remain present
for 75% of working days during
the same period as per Contractual
Service Agreement and remain
in service during and after
the period of "Dasai
" by attending NMC before
and after "Dasai"
festival, will be paid the
basic salary scale of NRs.

4.6 Should faculty remain
absent for more than the total
number of days allocated for
different vacation/ leave,
his/her increment of the annual
allowance may not be considered
as in the case of others.
5. Leave and Vacation:
As per the Nepal Medical College
and Nepal Medical College
Teaching Hospital rules and
regulations 2054 and its amendments,
a faculty is entitled for
the following leaves and vacations
during one fiscal year (from
Shrawan to Ashad) according
to Nepalese Calendar. For
those Faculty on contractual
service for lesser period
of duration, the leaves will
be granted proportionally.
Casual leave(not
accumulative) : 6 days
Illness leave(accumulative)
: 15 days
Summer vacation (not accumulative),
: 15 days,
Winter vacation (not accumulative),
: 15 days
"Dasai"(Durga Puja)
and "Tihar" vacation(not
accumulative) : 15 days
Faculties are entitled for
the same number of leave and
vacation within one fiscal
year and the leave cannot
be carried over to the next
fiscal year. Except the illness
leave, the casual leave and
the vacations must be utilized
within the same fiscal year.
No faculty will be allowed
leave during the period when
the actual teaching learning
activities, college examinations
and university examinations
are taking place. Unutilized
sick leave will be paid in
cash at the end of the contract
tenure on the basis of only
the Basic Salary.
5.1 Substitute leave will
be granted to only those faculty
members who are unable to
utilize the regular leaves
or vacations due to, university
examinations or hospital services
and such faculties will be
granted the same number of
days of substitute leave in
lieu of their vacations leaves.
However, substitute leave
instead of working during
their leaves or vacations
will not be granted to those
who get engaged himself/ herself
for own personal work.
5.2 Faculty who is appointed
Examiner by Kathmandu University
shall not be permitted to
take leave during such examination
periods. He/ she is entitled
to get substitute leave for
the number of days if Faculty
is engased in Kathmandu University
Examination that may fall
during the vacation.
5.3 NMC Management will settle
all dues before the termination
of the contractual service
agreement.
5.4 Faculty must be present
for 75% of the overall working
days prior to the vacation
to be entitled for salary
for the vacation period.
5.5 All leave will mature
in proportion to the number
of days actually worked.
6. Working Days and
Hours:
Faculty appointment
is a full time and the faculty
is required to work from Sunday
to Friday. The college working
hours is from 0800-1600 Hours
( with lunch break between
1300-1400 Hours). The faculty
will be responsible to the
Head of own Department and
to the principal.
7. Travel:
7.1 For joining NMC for the
first time, the Faculty will
be entitled to get Airfare
by the shortest route from
the permanent home city/ town
of his/ her origin. After
completion of one year of
contractual service only,
the faculty will be entitled
to get one return airfare
by the shortest route to his/
her home city/ town. Rerouting
of the travel is not allowed.
7.2 For those Faculty who
need to travel long distance
by surface transport before
arriving at the nearest airport
to board the plane, surface
transport fares by bus / trains
only will be paid by NMC.
7.3 Taxi fares will not be
provided for long distance
surface transport. Taxi fare
for reaching the residence
from the airport, railway
station or bus station not
exceeding NRs.500 will be
paid.
7.4 NMC shall not be held
responsible for making reimbursement
of fare(s) incurred in travel(s)
by the FACULTY on his / her
own for more than TWO TIME
during one fiscal year.
7.5 He/ she shall also be
paid the same amount incurred
in his fare while joining
NMC for return journey to
the destination joined from
. Rerouting the return flight
is not allowed The Faculty
who breaks the contract in
between on his/her own, and
leaves NMC without completing
the contractual service period,
will not be paid return travel
fare by NMC.
7.6 NMC does not have provision
of providing fare to other
family members of the faculty.
7.7 While joining NMC for
the first time and on returning
home after the termination
of the contract agreement,
a 20(twenty) kilograms of
Extra Baggage airfreight will
be paid by NMC to the Faculty.
8. Accommodation:
8.1 NMC will provide modest
accommodation subject to availability.
8.2 For those wishing to stay
separate, NMC will provide
10% of the gross monthly salary
(which is mentioned in clause
No.4.1)as accommodation allowance
to a Faculty from which tax
as per Nepal Government rule,
will be deducted on the amount
before paying the remaining
amount as Accommodation Allowance
to the Faculty.
8.3 The Faculty is responsible
for taking care of Electricity,
Water, Gas, telephone and
transport individually.
8.4 Faculty joining the college
will be provided a modest
accommodation by the college
till they find their accommodation
on a long term.
9. Contract Termination:
9.1 If NMC or the Faculty
wants to terminate this contract
before the expiry of the contact
period, a minimum of three
months prior notice must be
given in advance by either
NMC or the
Faculty to the other party
for the termination of the
contractual service agreement.
Failure to do so is liable
for the payment of one month
salary by the defaulting party
to the other.
9.2 NMC may not require to
give three months notice,
in case this contractual service
is not to be renewed after
the date mentioned above.
NMC and the Faculty have
agreed to abide by the terms
and conditions stated above
under the above stated clauses
1-9 and have signed this Contractual
Service Agreement in good
